How the visit takes place

The tour begins with a short introduction about our sea turtle conservation project and continues into the tank room, where the turtles are currently under care are hosted.

It is both an educational and emotional experience, during which visitors learn the story of each turtle present and the many threats sea turtles face in the wild.

As these are wild animals, often in delicate health conditions, visitors are kindly asked to respect a few simple rules:

  • keep children close and carry very small children if needed;
  • speak quietly;
  • do not knock on the tanks;
  • do not touch or disturb the animals;
  • do not try to attract their attention;
  • photos and videos are allowed, but without flash;
  • always follow staff instructions;
  • The guided visit lasts approximately 20/30 minutes.

After the tour, visitors may continue exploring the information corner and solidarity shop, where our staff will be happy to answer questions and curiosities.

Pets are welcome, they are on a leash or inside a carrier.

Important

An Educational Experience, Not a Tourist Attraction The Brancaleone Sea Turtle Recovery Center is not a zoo, aquarium, circus, or tourist attraction.

It is a place of care where every animal is welcomed in order to be healed and returned to the sea. Guided visits are an important tool to raise awareness among citizens and visitors about the threats affecting sea turtles in the Mediterranean.
